Field Goal: Refs- Good, Fans- No good
9/1/02

Jacksonville State last second field goal ended a heated battle and handed the bulldogs a loss. Wait a minute!!! Was the field goal good?

''It wasn't good,'' Travoris Nunn said of Lee's game-winning field goal. ''The game should have gone to overtime.''

JSU battled back from a 17-0 deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter. during the comeback some questionable calls were made by the officials. The bulldogs were holding JSU on a third and long possession when a pass interference was called giving Jacksonville a first down at the 23 yard line. The drive lead to a touchdown closing the score to 17-15.

''Kareem Abdul-Jabbar couldn't have caught that ball in his younger days,'' Alabama A&M coach Anthony Jones said.

On the two point conversion the Bulldogs defense seemed to stop Jacksonville but the refs called it good.

''We've got to find the formula to play not only our opponent, but the referees, too,'' A&M defensive end Robert Mathis said. ''The truth is the truth.''
