Grambling State University Grambling's Leading
Scorer is Even Better 2001 freshman of the Year and Black College All- America Brian Morgan, is back better than ever. During practice this morning Morgan hit a 52 yard field goal. His longest last year was 49 yards which tied the school record for longest field goal. Head coach Doug Williams is very pleased but not surprised by the improvement of Morgan. "He's just working hard to get better like everyone else," Williams said. "We already know he's a pretty good kicker, but its nice to know he's working hard to get better." Last years punter, Marcus Yanez, returns with his 41.1 yards a punt to complete the dynamite duo. A good place kicker and punter will alone put the tigers in the hunt for the championship. The game of field position is important late in the year when the games get tight. "Our kicking game is one of the
stronger areas on the team," Williams said. "We're working hard to improve
our kick coverage too. This is the time of year you work to fine tune all
parts of your team, and we're not going to forget how important special
teams can be." |
