MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- D'Javan Conway kicked his second straight game-winning field goal Saturday with a 25-yarder that allowed Texas Southern to squeak by Alabama State with a 10-9 victory. Texas Southern (2-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) defeated Prairie View 17-14 in its season opener thanks to a 33-yard field goal from Conway with 11 seconds left. A 15-yard field goal from Anthony Johnson put the Hornets (0-2) on the board in the third and a six-yard TD by Jay Peck gave them the lead with 7:31 left to play. Conway's field goal came with 41 seconds left in the game. Tino Edgecombe was 9-for-15 with one interception and 72 yards for the Tigers. Alex Engram started for the Hornets, going 10-for-23 with 151 yards. |
